Alvaro, you are correct. Thank you for catching my error. I will correct the article.

The Stukas were not used at Guernica. They were tested during the last year of the Spanish Civil War, but not at Guernica. Where did you find that information? Thanks.

His memory of the JU-87s centered around the sirens they carried which let out a terrifying wail as they dove in attack. More than a bit unnerving for those on the ground. Later in the war he had to deal with the V-1 flying bombs, which oddly had an opposite way of inducing fear. When the approaching sound of their jet engine suddenly cut out, it meant the missile was on its way down. No doubt a silence just as unnerving as the Stuka’s siren.

The FHC and the Historic Flight Foundation regularly fly most planes in their collection. The Museum of Flight’s restoration facility and Boeing’s 777 Future of Flight facility (includes a tour of the Boeing Factory) are also on the airport. It’s a very long day to see it all. Hopefully, everything will open up when the pandemic is over.

TDiA has been fortunate to be able to see several of the Museum’s aircraft in flight.

The museum was founded by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen and features an excellent collection of flying aircraft. Unfortunately, the museum is closed due to the Coronavirus pandemic and conversion to a non-profit in the wake of Mr. Allen’s death. Hopefully, the restoration will be completed one day.
