Best livery on it was PSA with that big smile – look it up on Wikipedia!

My primary “ride” was C-FTNI as pictured here (sorry for the long link):

http://www.airliners.net/photo/Royal-Airlines/Lockheed-L-1011-385-1-15-TriStar-100/309023?qsp=eJwtjDEKAjEQRa8iU1tsECy2W2tBCy8wJB9djCbMDLhh2bs7BrvH%2B5%2B3Uixvw2K3VkEjKVjig/ZUWfilNK70RPsUSc4kpXHencMQgl%2B0iJ2a68SGKUZUQ/r7iyTIb4LGXrt7PThArp3pcHSfZq2ZewPGc6Zt%2BwITJi/x

Royal had two of them, C-FTNI and C-FTNA. I concur with everything I read above… an amazing aircraft.

No, thank YOU, Bob! My father and I both worked at Lockheed Burbank. Dad was the Configuration Manager for the S-3A Viking and the CP-140 Aurora. I was in Tool Control and watched all of the tooling for the L-1011 skin panels being built, followed by the panels themselves. We are a long-time Lockheed family. Tony LeVier was a frequent visitor to my grandparents’ home in Whittier, and Mom says that she remembers sitting on Tony’s lap when she was little. . . I really enjoy hearing from people who have a personal insight into my posts, and as you might imagine, hearing from Test Pilots really is the icing on the cake. Thanks you for visiting my blog. I much appreciate it.

Thank You Bryan for the article and remembering the day. It truly was the most fantastic airplane I ever flew. Loved working for this great company and all the flight crews that were involved in flight test, production flight test and flight crew training for this great aircraft. The best thing is I still fly with some of the great people I flew with 46 years ago. WOW!
