Did Al Moore get Silver Star for his MIG kill?
Is there any pictures of Al Moore anywhere?
A1C Albert E. Moore, tail gunner of “Diamond Lil,” Boeing B-52D Stratofortress 55-083, “Ruby III,” is credited with destroying a MiG-21 on 24 December 1972. He was the second (and final) B-52 tail gunner officially credited with destroying an enemy aircraft. (There were other claims, but they were not allowed due to “insufficient evidence.”) This Day in Aviation has not found if he was awarded a medal for this action, nor located a photograph of Airman Moore.
