Harry Atwood landing at the White House. Historical image of Harry Atwood landing on the White House lawn in a Wright Model B aeroplane. Harry Nelson Atwood (1884-1967) was an American aviation pioneer. In 1910 he made a record-breaking 461-mile flight from Boston to Washington DC, USA, and landed on the White House lawn. The Wright Model B was an early biplane designed by Orville and Wilbur Wright in 1910 and was the first of their designs to be built in quantity. Photographed in 1910.
